  • Been Busy With Winter!

Cousin MarcusFirst off, Happy New Year everybody! I hope this year is a great one and that I’m able to do a lot of great things and get a lot done. I’m sure I will be a lot of fun and hard work, and a year full of change.

I know I have not written anything for a while, so I will quickly try to explain myself and come up with some lame excuse for my laziness. Last semester ended, though at the end I was very busy. I came home and worked till the break (I work for the school district). Since then I have been busy playing on my snowmobile. I’ve also been able to do a lot of things with my little bro Carson, since we recently updated his website so head on over and take a look. I’ll try to post more in the next few rides and maybe get a few more outdoors pictures up.

  • Thanksgiving Break

Sun Setting on the Beatufiul East HillsThanksgiving break was a lot of fun this year.  Since I am going back to school tomorrow I thought I’d take a few moments and reflect on it.  I came home Thursday night on the 15th.  On the way home I got a speeding ticket–I guess it happens…  The following morning I had a dentist appointment at seven, and got to the high school around 8:30 to find out I was teaching a class!  That day was teacher inservice, so they did not haves school for the kids.  I taught a class on setting up wordpress websites which I thought went very well, despite the fact I was unable to use half of my mouth.  For Monday – Wednesday I worked at the school district, and even though it was work it was still good to see everyone again and be productive.  For Thanksgiving on Thursday we ate with my moms family in Etna.  The food was good and we had a good time.  The rest of the week was nice and relaxing with me able to get some time in on my bike (even though I wrecked on Friday).  So, back to the books…  With only three weeks left in the semester it won’t be long at all till it is once again another semester down.

  • Moonlight Night Photography

Salt River BridgeWhile I was home over the weekend I decided to take advantage of the full moon and take some night shots with the light of the very bright full moon. The shots are of the Salt River bridge in the town of Freedom in Star Valley, Wyoming. I have never done night photography like this before, so it was new and experimental. The shot with some streaks from vehicles was taken the night of the 26th and the other two were taken at 1:30 AM (Saturday morning). I think for being so new at it they actually turned out pretty well. These photos were shot with an Olympus Evolt E-510 Digital SLR.

  • Snow on the valley floor

    Night Shot 1

Not to say that I am excited for winter or anything–but I am so excited I can hardly stand it! On Saturday night we got a nice snowfall, and I took the opportunity to take some photos of the flood light in our back yard. It was snowing very hard right up to when I was ready to take some photos (go figure). But I was still able to get some pretty neat pictures. I am excited to start riding my sled again and everything that goes along with it. Since it is still only mid-October I doubt that it will stay, but it still gets me excited.  Click “Read the rest of this entry” for more Photos.

  • Great Windows Alternatives

This October is going to be a very exciting month. There will be two great major operating system releases. Mac OS X 10.5 (also known as Leopard) and Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon). So for all you windows users out there dissatisfied with Microsofts latest offerings, I would urge you all to take a look and see if one of these alternatives would be better for you.

  • Outage

Sorry for the site being down for a few days.  I went home for the weekend (to work and for General Conference) and while I was gone Rexburg received a lot of snow.  The power went out a few times and my computer did not seem to come up properly.  My room mates both went to Utah so they were not able to reset it either.  It is up and happy now and will hopefully be more reliable till I move it over to a dedicated server.  My little VMWare Fusion server has been chugging along pretty nicely though.  I’m actually surprised at how well it is working (well, till I got to Rexburg and got a crappy connection).

  • Fall Colors

Fall ColorsOne of the things I love the most about this time of year is the beautiful colors which can be seen through Star Valley.  Since I have been at school, I have not had many opportunities to take very many photos.  On my way home I was able to snap a few photos while driving around the lake.  Hopefully when I am home next I will be able to take some good photos and post them to my pictures website.

  • Snowmobile Grass Drags

Snowmobile Grass DragsLast Saturday (the 22nd) I attended the snowmobile grass drags at my home town of Freedom.  It was fun seeing the powerful sleds race, but the best thing it did for me was get me excited for winter and the riding season once more.

  • Two Random Photos Taken On Campus

Campus Library BronzFlower on Campus For my photography class last week we had to go around campus and take a few random photos so we could go back tot he lab and learn how to develop them. I don’t usually do film photography, but since I was taking some photos on campus I thought turned out pretty well, I decided to later bring my digital camera and take some pictures as well. So the following day I brought my camera and took some random shots.

  • I’m still here

Sorry that I have not posted anything for a while. The first few weeks of school have been very busy (although I do not believe it is going to slow down any time soon). If you want to view my school schedule, just click the school link at the top of the page. I also plan on updating it and posting some of my accomplishments (or failures) from the semester. This Saturday is the snowmobile grass drags in my home town of Freedom, so that should be fun…
