Over the weekend, my friend Michael Bonham and I went home to ride snowmobiles for the weekend. On Saturday, March 1st, we were on a ride headed for Stump Peak. The day started out very beautiful, and though it was Michaels first time on a real ride he was doing very well at handling the sled. We were stopped playing on the second to last big climb before the peak while waiting for Matt Nelson to show up. I ran up the hill one last time, only to have my 800 make a loud bang and start ratcheting. Since cranks going out on a Polaris 800 is not that uncommon, I guessed that is what happened (which was correct). Needless to say when Matt arrived, he forgot to bring a rope, so he went home on the rental sled to get one. It started to snow so we took cover under a tree and drove around on Matt’s sled finding a different way around the mountain. To make a long story short, we eventually towed it home. It didn’t make for the greatest ride Mike could have been on, but we still had a lot of fun and got to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Hello World
I am still alive
This semester has been very busy, so I’ve neglected to do a few things (including update this site). I went home to work and play last weekend, which was a lot of fun. This upcoming Saturday is the Thayne Snow Days, and I rode with my cousins kids (4 and 7) for a while while they practiced for the races. They were really cute and it will be fun watching them. That evening I also tried some night shots. They turned out okay but I am going to redo them this weekend if the weather is good and see if I can get some great shots. Other then that, I’ve just been busy with school. I’ve never really been this busy with school before–mostly because all of my classes are upper level classes.

Another Semester has Begun
Well, here we are again… First day of a new semester. My room mates seem pretty cool (and one of which I was with last semester), so I think it will be a pretty good semester. My classes are all pretty hard this semester, but I think if I do well it should be okay. Hopefully I will get to go home and do a lot of good riding too. They got a lot of nice snow while I was home over the break. I think we plan on going up stump, which should be fun as it is one of my favorite places. Only three more semesters of BYU-Idaho.

Been Busy With Winter!
First off, Happy New Year everybody! I hope this year is a great one and that I’m able to do a lot of great things and get a lot done. I’m sure I will be a lot of fun and hard work, and a year full of change.
I know I have not written anything for a while, so I will quickly try to explain myself and come up with some lame excuse for my laziness. Last semester ended, though at the end I was very busy. I came home and worked till the break (I work for the school district). Since then I have been busy playing on my snowmobile. I’ve also been able to do a lot of things with my little bro Carson, since we recently updated his website so head on over and take a look. I’ll try to post more in the next few rides and maybe get a few more outdoors pictures up.

Thanksgiving Break
Thanksgiving break was a lot of fun this year. Since I am going back to school tomorrow I thought I’d take a few moments and reflect on it. I came home Thursday night on the 15th. On the way home I got a speeding ticket–I guess it happens… The following morning I had a dentist appointment at seven, and got to the high school around 8:30 to find out I was teaching a class! That day was teacher inservice, so they did not haves school for the kids. I taught a class on setting up wordpress websites which I thought went very well, despite the fact I was unable to use half of my mouth. For Monday – Wednesday I worked at the school district, and even though it was work it was still good to see everyone again and be productive. For Thanksgiving on Thursday we ate with my moms family in Etna. The food was good and we had a good time. The rest of the week was nice and relaxing with me able to get some time in on my bike (even though I wrecked on Friday). So, back to the books… With only three weeks left in the semester it won’t be long at all till it is once again another semester down.

Moonlight Night Photography
While I was home over the weekend I decided to take advantage of the full moon and take some night shots with the light of the very bright full moon. The shots are of the Salt River bridge in the town of Freedom in Star Valley, Wyoming. I have never done night photography like this before, so it was new and experimental. The shot with some streaks from vehicles was taken the night of the 26th and the other two were taken at 1:30 AM (Saturday morning). I think for being so new at it they actually turned out pretty well. These photos were shot with an Olympus Evolt E-510 Digital SLR.

Snow on the valley floor
Not to say that I am excited for winter or anything–but I am so excited I can hardly stand it! On Saturday night we got a nice snowfall, and I took the opportunity to take some photos of the flood light in our back yard. It was snowing very hard right up to when I was ready to take some photos (go figure). But I was still able to get some pretty neat pictures. I am excited to start riding my sled again and everything that goes along with it. Since it is still only mid-October I doubt that it will stay, but it still gets me excited. Great Windows Alternatives
This October is going to be a very exciting month. There will be two great major operating system releases. Mac OS X 10.5 (also known as Leopard) and Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon). So for all you windows users out there dissatisfied with Microsofts latest offerings, I would urge you all to take a look and see if one of these alternatives would be better for you.
